DESIGNERS: Submit Yourself and Nominate Others To Be Featured Here!

If you’ve been following this blog recently you have been witness to a few new features that I have initiated in an effort to introduce and promote lesser known members of the design community. Yesterday I launched a new feature titled “Behind The Avatar” in which we will get to know different people who are designers and developers (and maybe other pursuits as well) a little more personally. In previous posts I have shared with you 24 Designers You’ve Never Seen On A List Before, 43 Twitter Backgrounds You’ve Never Seen On A List Before, and 27 More Designers You’ve Never Seen On A List Before. I explained my reasons for doing this in detail in this post: DESIGNERS: Why I Promote and Support You Rather Than Compete Against You.

Today I want to remind you how you can get involved. Whether you are a designer or developer yourself and are interested in a little self-promotion, or you know someone who you think deserves some recognition for the work they do and/or the type of person they are, all you have to do is leave your information in the comments below to be considered. Here’s a little more info:

Behind The Avatar

“This is a new feature here in which I will introduce you to people and blogs and websites who I have found to be of value to my education and life experience. Whether I follow them on Twitter or subscribe to their blog’s RSS feed or have interacted with them in some other way, these are people that I am getting to know and want to encourage you to do the same. In keeping with the spirit of previous posts on this blog, I want to try to bring to the forefront those that for one reason or another are not as well known as some of the more “popular” in their field.”

This feature involves being interviewed by me via email, Skype, Google Wave, or whatever common method we can both utilize. You will need to share 1-5 photographs of yourself, your family, your pets – anything that will help readers see you outside of your social media presence. This feature is not limited to designers and developers – it is more about introducing and getting to know real people to enhance our interaction with them on social networks. This feature will be published anywhere from 1-3 times per week.

Designers

If you have never been featured on a list of roundups before and want to promote your website, design work, portfolio, or anything else, this is for you. All I need is your website address, your Twitter username, and your full name. This is a great way to get your name out there for others to see. Currently these posts have had anywhere from 600-1300 views. They are published monthly.

Twitter Backgrounds

Twitter profile backgrounds have become a new way to display your design skills. There are new roundups of backgrounds published every week, but often they utilize the same profiles over and over, so if your background has never been featured on one of those other roundup lists before, submit it here. A screenshot of your background along with links to your Twitter profile will be published. Simply comment with your Twitter username and you’re set! These posts will be published monthly or as often as enough backgrounds are submitted.

Other Ideas?

Someone suggested I do a roundup of web developers who have never been on a list before, so that may be something we do if enough interest is shown. Do you have any other ideas of ways I can help to promote you, your work and introduce you to those that read this blog or follow me on Twitter and Facebook? Leave them in the comments below and we’ll see what we can do.

You can submit yourself or nominate someone else. Please be sure to leave all of the relevant information to be included – I can’t post your work if I can’t find or contact you! If you are uncomfortable with leaving your info in the comments, then feel free to email me instead. Here’s what I need from you to get started:

Full Name
Email Address
Twitter Username
Website Address

If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to this blog via RSS feed or email (by filling out the simple form on  the top right of the page) so you don’t miss any of the future posts – especially if you are going to be featured! Now comment away!

This is a great idea! I think more needs to be focused on some of the people who haven’t been in the “limelight” – something I’ve learned is that we’re all superstars!

Ooooooh! What a great way to promote yourself or people who deserve some recognition :)

Love this idea! Thank you so much for showcasing blogs that don’t get the most attention. All of us bloggers work hard and should be seen & felt appreciated once in a while : )

It’s not up yet, but believe me, it will be in a day or two :)
