  • The 562 Links I Tweeted This Week: 3/7 – 3/12

In case you missed one, or some, or just don’t even try to keep up with all the links I tweet throughout the day every day, here is this week’s list of links for your weekend reading and review. Listed purely in the order I tweeted them and no other type of organization, you will find topics such as technology, social media, web and graphic design, freelancing and more. Please leave a comment if you find this list useful so I will know that it’s helping someone out. Enjoy!

  • All The Links I Tweeted This Week: 3/1 – 3/5

I have tried to share the links I tweet in several different formats on this blog, just in case someone would benefit from it. It got to be a bit much work, and then the automated searchable database of links that I had running started doing weird things, so I kind of stopped. But I thought I would try another route, and simply keep a copy of every link I tweet throughout the week, then simply make the list available here. It’s not sorted by category or anything like that. It is just plain and simply the links in the order I’ve tweeted them, from Monday through this morning. Social media, SEO, freelancing, web and graphic design – all here and probably a few other things as well. On the weekends there are significantly less articles published, so maybe if you are looking for something to read this will give you some options.

  • Is “Good Design” In The Eye Of The Beholder?

I’ve seen quite a few articles and blog posts recently discussing “good design” and “bad design”. It got me thinking about the concept, along with the various categorizations and judgments we who operate under the title “designer” place so easily on the work of others. Is not the determination of whether or not an object of design is deserving of the title “good” a subjective one, formed by preferences and/or opinions? Or is there, in fact, a set of standards or guidelines written in stone somewhere that all design can and should adhere to?

  • Behind The Avatar #6: Get To Know Sarah Camp of Camp Creative Group
Behind The Avatar #6 - Sarah Camp of Camp Creative Group

I first came into contact with Sarah Camp a few months back in a Thursday night session of DCTH (Design Community Twitter Hours), a weekly chat session on Twitter amongst designers and anyone else who wants to participate. I began following her on Twitter and eventually visited her website, only to be amazed at the incredible work Camp Creative Group does! Classy, professional, original and powerful web design and development, graphic design, and identity and branding are at the forefront of CCG’s portfolio, so I thought it would be interesting to learn more about the namesake, owner and “Design Maven” who fuels the fire and makes things happen at CCG. I asked Sarah if she would let us have a peek into who she is, and she graciously agreed to take us Behind The Avatar.

  • 3 Keys To Attracting New Clients On Twitter
    The Used Car Salesman

I was recently participating in a discussion among freelancers in a Google Wave regarding finding new clients on Twitter. I was surprised to hear that all of the other participants had not found a single new client or made any money through their efforts on the social network. The reason I was surprised is because my experience has been quite the opposite. I came to realize I might be the exception to the rule and I could possibly help other freelancers by sharing what I am finding to be some proven successful keys to marketing my services and finding new clients on Twitter.

    whirlwind

Wow! Where did this last week go?!?

I just wanted to write a quick update to let those of you who are wondering know that I have NOT abandoned this blog. It has been a CRAZY week for me and something had to give. I even tweeted less than normal!

Rest assured knowing that I plan to return to my normal 2-3 posts per week within the next couple of days. Here’s a quick rundown of where we’ve been and what’s coming up…

  • Behind The Avatar #5: Introducing Freelance Graphic Designer Beth Daniell of EDGD
Behind The Avatar #5: Introducing Freelance Graphic Designer Beth Daniell of EDGD

I don’t recall exactly how we started communicating, although I’m sure it was either Twitter or Facebook, but I have recently been enjoying getting to know Beth Daniell of Elizabeth Daniell Graphic Design (EDGD) through a few online conversations and interactions. Beth is a graphic designer who has made the shift to running her own freelance business and using social media to expand her networks and clientele. As we began conversing and sharing thoughts I knew she would be a perfect candidate for my friends and readers to meet, so I asked if she would be interested in participating in this series. She has generously taken the time to answer a few questions and share some insights into who she is. I invite you to get to know her and connect with her yourself so you can go beyond the surface and see who’s Behind The Avatar.

“Over the past 15+ years, I have found the inspiration for my design style through the cities I have lived in, the people I have met along the way and my love for all things unique. My education in various art forms is a concrete foundation for making me the artist I am today.”

  • Behind The Avatar #4: David Yarde of HowsYourBlog.com (and more!)
    Behind The Avatar #4

I have been following David Yarde (@dsmy) on Twitter for a little while now and recently started subscribing to HowsYourBlog.com so I could take in his thoughts and insights about writing, blogging and more. David is a self-professed “design junkie” who seems to have a lot of things going on and new ideas springing up all the time. He and his wife Angie (@missneela) run Sevenality, a web and graphic design studio located in the Kissimmee, Florida area. David’s an interesting, friendly guy who I thought would be fun to get to know a little better, so I invited him to be a part of this series so we all could meet the man behind the avatar.

  • 15 MORE Designers You’ve Never Seen On A List Before
    Jackie Berra

There seems to be an endless supply of “undiscovered” and “undocumented” designers. You know the ones. All those talented people who are lesser known for whatever reason. Maybe networking is not their thing. Or they don’t do social media (yet). Or they’re just too busy working to try and promote themselves enough to be noticed by the design blog roundup writers. Whatever it is, it is most often not because of a lack of talent! Somehow most of the same designers end up on those lists, so being one of the “unknowns” myself, I am using my little corner of the internet to promote my fellow designers.

So here today I give you 15 more designers that, until now, you’ve never seen on a list before. Check out their websites. Follow them on Twitter. Connect with them on their other social networks. And let’s continue to encourage the growth of the design community.
