There is some research around lists that suggests that alot of people are drawn to them on blogs, especially odd numbers. So, nine would’ve been better!

So, the proliferation is because they WORK!

I totally agree though, it’s getting so your numbered list will no longer stand out because there are so many other numbered lists.
